I think that glamring is the foehammer. Thorin had the goblin cleaver, which I think was "biter" to the goblins. And Gandalf claimed the foehammer, which was "beater" or something like that. I only remember this because when Gandalf returns to the dwarves who are prisoners of the goblins and kills the goblin king is one of my favorite parts of The Hobbit. Gandalf is my favorite character any way, so I love the parts that show him playing the hero.
