: Gil-galad is Fingon's son. If HoME contains passages which say otherwise, they do not supercede the published narrative. If Tolkien changed his mind concerning the Geneaologies, then he should have included those changes in a revised edition of LotR. Otherwise, Gil-galad remains the son of Fingon.

You do realize of course that nothing JRR Tolkien ever published states Fingon is the father of Gil-galad? Neither the LOTR nor The Hobbit ever states Gil-galad's parentage.
