Not once.: I agree that it might have been able to fly, but that is mere conjacture. Good point. The debate could be split in two: did balrogs have wings, and could they fly. The two may appear to be interlocked, but that does not necessarily mean they are. Now that I think about it, is there any indication that ALL balrogs would have wings?
