: I definitely did not. Just Corrected your mistakes. : : : : Your points one by one: : : There was ALOT more than eight. : Only eight of them took any kind of oaths, while you said that Galadriel alone did not take any oath. ::BIG,BIG SNIP That's exactly right. Feanor and his sons took the oath No other Noldo did... so why am I incorrect.. It's right on Page 83-84 of the Valenquenta....READ THE BOOK! : Quoting you: "Galadriel : and Celeborn are interesting cases as Galadriel, of all the : Noldor, did not swear the oath. "
: I corrected this and you were simply utterly wrong. : BIG SNIP :: This statement is correct, SHE DID NOT TAKE THE OATH! READ THE BOOK! : : Your statement/point about 'There was no one ring in the first age" I don't understand. Perhaps I was unclear and didn't finish my sentence. : You said: "She also : refused the pardon of the Valar at the end of the first age : (The History of Celeborn and Galadriel)as it was her fate : to achevie her desire (the one ring)and use it to rule.." ::SNIP Point taken, I aplogize as I had not finished the sentence or my thought. she was not fated to use it to rule. She was fated to be tempted with it!I was talking about the Galadriels' motivations for staying and rejecting the pardon of the Valar because it bears on the development of her character by Tolkien, particularly in the second and third age. : As I said there was no "ring of power" at the beginning of the second age, or ending of the first. Additionally she obviously was not fated to use the One ring (Sauron's ring). She wanted to carve a realm in ME, yes, but the non-existent rings had nothing to do with it. ::ANOTHER BIG SNIP
We weren't talking about the first age. DUH! I disagree and Tolkiens notes support me (READ THE BOOKS!) Galadriel WAS fated to be tempted by Frodo. That's the whole point of her part in the story and her rejection of it closes the circle. She 'passes the test'! : : What I am saying is that Galadriel rejected the pardon of the Valar at then end of the first age for two reasons: : snip : : (2)It was not her duty (nor her fate) to depart Middle-Earth : : until Sauron was defeated and all that she desired was within : : her grasp. : snip : Where did you get this? Sauron was not a threat at that time and as far as I know, she was either banned to go to west because she was one of the leaders of the rebellion, or she herself didn't want to go, because she wanted to live in ME and carve a realm from there. Sauron, IMO, had little to do with that decision and the rings surely had NOTHING to do with her decision, as they didn't even exist. : Tamim ::BIG BIG SNIP We are talkin about the third age here. Tlokiens letter's also and notes also make it clear that Galadriel and Celeborn WERE aware of Sauron soon after the end of the first age Granted the rings did not yet exsist. Yet, Galadriel knew or suspected that Sauron was at work agian in the east. This is given her motivation to move east with Celeborn at the end of the third age! READ THE BOOKS! Vomact
