: : Does anyone here have any cite that Christopher Tolkien added/deleted or changed any portions of the story "Of Tuor and His Coming to Gondolin" as found in Unfinished Tales, other than the Title of the narrative itself.

: After being thoroughly trounced by Michael in the Balrogs with wings debate I am reluctant to show myself. However ... as far as I am aware the Unfinished Tuor is published as Tolkien left it. Christopher expresses disappointment at its incompletion, and says somewhere that his father definately had the Gondolin story from "The Book of Lost Tales" open in front of him when he wrote the Unfinished Tuor. But that is all, I think.

Thanks for your reply. I am of the same opinion. CT does mention that there are variant readings to some of the passages and so he had to do some minor editing before publishing. But he does not specify what that was. I am involved in a debate elsewhere with a person who says that CT went through that narrative and changed names added and deleted passages, rewrote things in it to make consistant with the published Silmarillion, took items from the Grey Annals and placed them therein etc. The other party has yet to show me any specific change that was made (though) and where her information comes from. I have read virtually all the published corpus and recall nothing to verify her claim, but I just wanted to double check my own facts.
Thanks again.
