The "Pod-derived armour" is nothing, Jan! Michael mentioned that orcs in movie are derived from pods, and second, about armour: in film we see Uruks armed with plate armour, when in LOTR we don't have any plated armours (except one place, when Tolkien describes armour used by Haradrim; and it is not real plate armour: something like old Roman Lorica Segmentata).
