: : Does anybody else think it's odd that Aragorn, a Mortal Man though of distinguished lineage, is a more powerful Healer than Gandalf, a Maiar?: I don't think Aragorn is more powerfull. Aragorn never demonstates an inate power or ability to heal physical wounds. He has the knowledge of a specific plant that can heal specific types of wounds. ::snip You've got to be joking. Are you seriously suggesting that Aragorn's sole healing ability comes from his knowledge of 'athelas'? The Healers of Gondor know of it, and dismiss it as a headache cure and air-freshener. Aragorn uses it to help him heal Faramir's deep, poisoned (and probably infected) arrow wound. Not to mention reviving Merry and Eowyn's Ringwraith-numbed sword-arms, and recalling them from what was either delirium or coma. : Neither Aragorn or Gandalf demonstrate an inate power ability to heal spiritual wounds. Gandalf does not heal Theodon's spirit, Gandalf, by his words, helps Theodon realize the he,Theodon, has been misled by Wormtongue. I more or less agree with you here. In Eowyn's case, for example, Aragorn tells Eomer that he can heal her body, but to what she will awaken to he does not know. And if it is to despair, then she will die, unless other healing comes which he (Aragorn) cannot bring. And in Faramir's case, Aragorn, after healing him in body, cautions the Healers that he should not be told the full tale of his father's madness until he is fully (physically) recovered. : The only person who appears to have to an ability to ease, not heal, the effects of spiritual wounds is Arwen. This ability appears to be knowledge based, and not an inate power. : ~Aelmer :::zing!::: That was the sound of your comment about Arwen going way over my head. Could you explain?
