It is stated, in "The House of Healing", that Gandalf went from one to other (Faramir, Eowyn, and Merry) full of care. "And so the day passed, while the great battle outside went on...and still Gandalf waited and watched and did not go forth;..." While the word 'healing' is not explicitly used in reference to Gandalf's efforts, what other reason could he have had for staying in the Houses of Healing rather than going out to a battle that hung in the balance?
