It is now attested to by late etymological note that Elves did (or could ) have beards. A note in the Marquette archives associated with the Shibboleth of Feanor, ca.1968 (but not published in PoME) notes that "Elves did not have beards until they entered their third cycle of life. Nerdanel's father was exceptional being only early in his second." See also note 61 to the Shibboleth of Feanor for context.

Any recollection to the 'cycles of life' of Elves elsewhere in the published corpus?

Associated notes:
Nerdanel is described as having "brown hair and a ruddy complexion".
The 'red' hair associated with some of the Noldor (the _rus_ stem in some names ans its 'mature' variants eg russe, russa, ross) *seems* to be described as "brick red to auburn" or also "copper coloured".
