: The ship's phaser banks were variably stated as being capable of destroying half a continent, or half a world. I always wanted to see the episode where, through some sort of computer error, mutiny, hostile takeover, whatever, they actually 'phasered' a planet to dust.

The same was said of their photon torpedoes. They had a variable destructive rate that ranged all over the board. However, I must admit that you have me beat. I never really wanted to see a planet waxed. Though the explosion might have been pretty interesting, given the limited budget and then-level of special effects abilities. ;)

I guess the adage of, "It takes one to know one," is true! ;)
