Certainly they should have. Seems odd to me that it is not said. Is it?The existence of a body requiring disposal assumes that Sauron had taken a body of flesh as his form. I don't think we are told that this was the case. If Sauron had clad himself in rainment when he took his new form, there would be no body left after the ring was cut from his hand.
