But the Istari were in the form of men.. could they have also had kids if they wanted too?: Beren Valthôl Well, we know that the longer an Aniur kept a form, especially a flesh form, the more they became bound to that form. The impression I get, is that Melian did take a flesh form and kept it for the majority of the First Age. Her ability to reproduce may have been tied to the length of time she was in her flesh form. I don't think we know exactly how long after taking her form, Melian concieved. We know how long the Istari were in their flesh forms. It was a far shorter period of time than Melian. They may not have been in their form long enough to become fertile. It's one of those fun un-answerable questions.
