:
: : In a post below, someone suggested that Isildur imprisoned the spirits of the men along the Paths of the Dead. Is Isildur then some kind of necromancer as well? Did he use the Ring to create this Paths of the Dead? This all seems a bit on the evil side to me.

: : -RR

: As soon as I read you r post I wondered wether Isildur's curse of the 'men of the mountain' had been uttered after Isildur had taken possesion of the ring -and thus could have had the force of Sauron's ill power behind it. but after looking in the appendix for any mention of the timing of the Oath, denial, fulfillment and curse, the only source I found in lotr was p.64 [pback rk]
: And there it clearly states that the curse toook place before the final seige of Barad-Dur.so it seems to me more of the nature of prophecy and destiny [that they should be available to help Aragorn and Co. ] and Iluvatar turning their betrayel [and fear of sauron?] to worthy ends.
: Although I must admit Isuldur using the ring to 'cast' a curse would have provided more material for discussion.
