This is not like any of petty complaints people on this board have raised with PJ's changes to date. Bombadil and Glorifindel (sp.?) may be bit players, but this scene is absolutely essential. One of the main themes in the book is that "you can't go home again" (at least for Frodo).: DO we have any confirmation one way or the other whether this change is actually going to happen? Ian McKellen said that this isn't him or Christopher Lee either but some consider this to be an evasion. Quite possibly it is. We know that both the Grey havens exist, and that we'll see Sam's daughter Elanor. I'll be rather surprised if they place these things and yet leave the Scouring of the Shire out. Could they use another villain for the Scouring? I vote in favour of Bill Gates being the leader of the ruffians. Any other suggestions? :-)
