The statement is that his father's last word on the matter of Gil-galad's parentage is that Gil-galad was the son of Orodreth.: Fictional characters or not, he WAS the son of Orodreth, indisputably so. The implication of Aris message (at least as I read it) was that he was not claiming those sentences to be CT's. He said somthing to the effect that he (Aris) would construct the sentences in this way. That is (as I read it) he was not miscontruing the sentences to be something CT wrote.
