: Something I've noticed on ongoing debates while in my observative silence, like everywhere else is that the driving factor is an issue of victory rather than the answer of the matter. I don't have the material with me but I recall a famous philosopher stating that the purpose of a debate is the pursuit of the truth or a more plausible theory. It's always harder to llisten, but listening will tend to increase knowledge thus allowing the compilation of greater theories.
: My apoligies if I have stated this already.

In school, I was taught that winning a debate depends on how well you convince people that your position is the correct one.
I was also taught that taking criticism of your positon
personally was the best way to lose a debate. All to often, I have seen people on this board, and other boards, do just that.
