: My brother says it looks like an intentional email, so be
: causious opening anything that talks about a funny joke if you
: don't know who sent it.

Most if not all of these email bombs are directed at Outlook Express or Microsoft Word users. Since I use Eudora Pro I'm not (yet) prone to suffer from these viruses and nasty little surprises. I do occasionally use Microsoft Word. That's unavoidable since so many other people insist on using it. So I'm at some risk when I open documents I know I'm supposed to get.

Nonetheless, I've noticed a trend lately for spammers and hoaxers to use subject lines starting with "re:" or "Re:" and some innocuous question that looks like they are responding to something you asked them. Also, they tend to use common names like "John", "Tim", or "Jim" as the senders in the hopes you'll think you were corresponding with someone you know.

I think the email bombs will eventually become this sophisticated.
