: ::snip: : You are absolutlely right of course Michael. The power of personel computing will in the next decade become nothing short of Miraculas. A role playing game will be possible that allows video that is as real as a movie in first person perspective. Imagine if you could enter a fantasy world where dragons and other horrors apeared to be as real as you and I? You will no longer need to type to talk to others but wear a head set and talk as though you are there. With the power that is comming, on line gaming will be transformed to such an extent that you will not know if you are interacting with another person or an artificial intelligence. You will look forward to seeing you friend logged on the server only to eventually find that he is a game aspect and not another person at all. All that is needed really for one to become completely emersed is a true wrap around head set that allows perifrial vision. Those that have played the game Everquest (aks Neverrest by thousands) know how aditcing this kind of gaming is. The technology will allow many to become so lost in fantasy worlds that they lose all interest in this world completely. It will be a destructive as any drug. : I just want to point out that the ability to wear a headset and talk as though you were there already exists for online gamers. Soon you will be able to scan a photo of your self, add stats such as weight and height and insert yourself into any movie you desire. You can eat your popcorn and watch youself as Gandalf or Frodo or perhaps even Shelob. :)
