Be warned: The synopsis for the episode of February 6th, though quite short as usual, sounds rather complete. The rather lame German episode title "Ein teuflisches Experiment" (A devilish experiment)is almost certainly not the original title. Here we go: Challenger, Roxton and Veronica meet Dr. Hargrove ("Dr. Hargrove, I presume. What are you doing in this remote and uncharted Lost World? ;)). They discover that he is undertaking experiments on ape-men. Renata, the young woman that Hargrove introduces as his daughter is also the result of a genetical experiment; Hargrove's daughter died years ago. When Challenger informs Renata about her true identity, she declares her solidarity with the captive apes. Hargrove is killed by his creatures. As I said, appears to be pretty much the entire episode. Maybe H.G. Wells' heirs should sue the scriptwriters for damages. Yes, sounds definitely like "The island of Dr. Moreau". I know it's difficult to come up with new ideas, however they don't seem to try very hard. Then again, it takes a certain audacity (some would probably say impudence) to steal plot ideas as often and openly as the TLW writing staff does. If they turn the ideas into entertaining episodes, I guess that I wouldn't mind very much. It would, however, be nice to see them becoming a bit more original in the second season. After all, do you guys get paid full when you rip-off dead authors ? ;) But maybe my criticism is premature, let's watch the episode first.
