In my opinion, the use of a number of historical figures from different times in history was much too often an easy way out for the scriptwriters. If they would settle for a certain time period and introduce historical figures from that period, fine. But to jump back and forth through time and take whoever you like to for next weeks episode, no.

Cripes, they go between dynastys in Egypt in Xena and Hercules on different visits to the Nile!
