The future described by the woman from the future in "Time After Time" has it that Veronica stays behind to search for her parents, but Malone promises to return. He doesn't, and eventually Veronica leaves to go find him back in London, only to discover that he was one of the first victims of Krux Disease. She never found her parents and she lost Malone. Fortunately, this possible future was destroyed when Roxton destroyed the gateway talisman.
