: One of the the things that I find so great is the success the show is having in Germany. I asked the production office some time ago to see if they could get me a copy of the version dubbed into German: it would be great fun to hear myself and the others talking German. If you'd be interested, I would tape the episode next Sunday and send you the tape. However, your VCR/TV must be able to also work with the European PAL TV system in order for you to view the tape. Let me know what you think. :) In the meantime, you might be interested to hear that "your" German voice fits the character very well, in my opinion. It has an "absent-minded professor" quality at times, while also projecting the father figure element inherent in the character of Summerlee. Overall, the level of quality concerning the dubbing is quite high. What the dubbing cannot truly convey, of course, is the English accent. Unfortunately, sometimes a nice piece of dialogue gets lost in the translation. The one case I'm aware of is from the episode "Camelot" where the original line "I'd rip out your tongue if you didn't need it to lick my boots" was turned into something like "I rip out your tongue and bury you" in the German version. To quote England's greatest poet: "The rest is silence". ;) I just hope that I'll get to see an episode in the original version once, if only to know what the actual voices sound like. One can get a certain idea from the video clips on the official site, but that's no real alternative. I'm glad to hear that spring has finally arrived in Montreal. Things are looking better over here, too. No need to be discontent with the winter anymore. :)
