: I was watching some of the old episodes on tape, and I found something troubling in the "Tribute" episode. Challenger, Roxton, and Veronica come to what they believe is the ocean. It turns out it's just a big lake, though. The troubling thing is when three of the villagers are tied up to a stake in the water, and the level begins to rise. Do lakes have tides? I'm no oceanographer, but I find this very unlikely. Larger bodies of water will display tidal flows, as the gravitation effect of the moon will pull the water this way and that. I missed the "Tribute" episode, so I don't know the degree of the tidal flow, but assuming that a man is around 6 feet tall, that body of water would have to be huge in order to generate a tidal difference greater than 6 feet. :Just how big is this lake, and how big does that make the plateau? I'm all for imagination, but sometimes these writers push the limit too far. Am I right? Sometimes, you have to just let art flow (imagine my hands moving like waves here) over you. Pointing out the inconsistencies and implausibilities of TLW is one of the more entertaining aspects of the program. So what do you do when you find a technical or historical inaccuracy? You...
