: I was watching some of the old episodes on tape, and I found something troubling in the "Tribute" episode. Challenger, Roxton, and Veronica come to what they believe is the ocean. It turns out it's just a big lake, though. The troubling thing is when three of the villagers are tied up to a stake in the water, and the level begins to rise. Do lakes have tides? I'm no oceanographer, but I find this very unlikely.

Larger bodies of water will display tidal flows, as the gravitation effect of the moon will pull the water this way and that. I missed the "Tribute" episode, so I don't know the degree of the tidal flow, but assuming that a man is around 6 feet tall, that body of water would have to be huge in order to generate a tidal difference greater than 6 feet.

:Just how big is this lake, and how big does that make the plateau? I'm all for imagination, but sometimes these writers push the limit too far. Am I right?
