The whole return to civilization thing could be pulled off easily enough. We are talking TLW here. If they can stick Camelot and parallel dimensional beings aka gods and time travelers on the Plateau, why can't they come up with some kind of flora induced hallucinogenic sequence whereby they are all in London again a la "Cave of Fears". Our fearless explorers could in this hallucination stumble across an actual mini-London settlement wherein they are forced to resume their "civilized" modes/roles with pseudo familiars - dead realitives and all including people that they are "obligated to".

Gladys and her accountant Malone and Veronica could have it out. Margie could meet Roxton's mother and Roxton would have a chance to deal with his brother (non-psycho mode). Maybe Margie could even learn more about her parentage (perhaps even meet them - the nonhomicidal/abusive version) and come to terms with her childhood, at the very least learning the truth for once and for all. Challenger could gostle around with Summerlee's progeny and have his chance to speak to the society which shunned him. I mean they could do everything that they feel that they have to return for, thus easing their minds and making the subsequent episodes less about finding a way off of the Plateau and more about exploring this extraordinary piece of real estate for all it's worth.
