If the critter is very large and there is much interaction the "monster-stick" guys will have orange or yellow tennis balls on the sticks to represent the individual eyes of the critter.I've seen stills done on location for other shows where creatures were later added using animation, with stage hands holding the fearsome Penn 5 Optic Yellow monsters over the actors. It does take quite a bit of talent by the actor be scared of a fuzzy ball, but then, nobody said acting was easy :) Enjoy!
