: i was just reading some of the posts and i realized that you guys don't seem to get the lost world as many times as i do. i get it once on tuesday, once on thursday, four times on saturday and three times on sunday. that is partially because i have a dish. and most of them are reruns. by the way, what happened on prophecy? i don't mind spoilers.
: byes

I posted a major spoiler for "Prophecy" back on March 12th. I copied it from the archive so you don't have to look it up yourself. A few very small alterations were made (hey, I wrote it in the first place so don't complain ;)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The gypsy-woman Isadora is travelling through the jungle with her horse carriage (DON'T ASK! I will not get into this dicussion again :-)). Suddenly she is attacked by cannibals, but manages to escape, though she loses control over her carriage.
Marguerite, Veronica, Malone and Roxton are walking alongside a huge gorge, trying to find a way back home, when Isadora's out-of-control carriage appears, heading for the gorge. Roxton manages to stop the carriage just in time.
Later, Isadora thanks them (especially the men) for her rescue. Marguerite and Veronica seem considerably less delighted about their new guest than Malone and Roxton, who sit down with Isadora who introduces herself as a fortune teller, while a fuming Veronica puts up the tent for the night without any help from the two lovesick morons.

----------

At another part of the plateau, Challenger and Summerlee are gathering plants. They notice dinosaurs hiding in the bushes, but whenever Challenger aims his rifle at them they disappear from sight. Apparently, they've learned from previous experiences (thereby greatly reducing Michael's fear of a dramatic decline in the plateau's dinosaur population).

----------

Meanwhile, Isadora is making lots of prophecys (what do you expect from a fortune teller). Here's a short run-down of some of them:
- about Veronica's parents: "I see bodys in chains"
- about Veronica: "You will turn into a plant" (DON'T ASK)
- about Malone: "I see death. In two days you will fight a beast with razor-sharp claws"

----------

Challenger and Malone have set up a camp for the night, wondering about the clever dinosaurs.

----------

While the others are asleep, Roxton is standing guard. Isadora appears and flirts with him, they kiss (only a short kiss; for all you concerned Marguerite/Roxton fans)and she hands him a drink which she has drugged before. Roxton falls to the ground. The next morning, the group discovers that most of their belongings are missing, including the guns and Marguerite's heart-shaped medallion.

Isadora doesn't get far, though, because she is herself robbed by Kayzan and his animal-masks wearing gang (DON'T ASK).

Marguerite, Veronica (Ladies first), Malone and Roxton find Isadora standing by a little pond, pondering her fate. She tells the angry group that their weapons are now in Kayzan's camp. If they would go there, however, her prophecy about Malone's death would come true. Out of nowhere (a TLW-specialty) they are attacked by a bunch of ape-men, but manage to fight them off. During the fight, Veronica is thrown into the pond. When she leaves the pond, she's covered with water plants. THE PROPHECY HAS COME TRUE! ;-) Malone looks considerably more concerned about his own fate now.

----------

Meanwhile, Challenger and Summmerlee discover that the dinosaurs have bitten through the ropes fastening their balloon. Now they have to follow the balloon till it comes down again, while themselves being followed by the dinosaurs.

----------

At Kayzan's camp, his people are celebrating their successful raid. During the celebration they all wear their animal-masks again (I SAID DON'T ASK). Marguerite and Roxton steal two masks and enter the camp, trying to get their weapons back. They are caught, however, and Kayzan sentences them to die the following day. He offers Marguerite the chance to save her life and join the gang. All she has to do is kill Roxton as a sign of loyalty.

A little away from the camp, Veronica and Malone discuss a way to save their friends. Isadora tells them, the only way is by killing Kayzan in a duel, since the gang's code of honour demands that the winner of such a duel would be the new leader. Malone wants to fight Kayzan, but Veronica objects, arguing that she would stand a better chance. She also points to Isadora's prophecy about Malone's death. They argue a little more until Malone seeemingly gives in. Suddenly he knocks Veronica out with a blow to the jaw and gently kisses her on the forehead, with Isadora saying: "I knew that" (DUH!)

----------

Challenger and Summerlee are still following the balloon, while our clever dinosaurs seem to wait that Challenger runs out of ammunition.

----------

In the gang's camp, Marguerite and Roxton are tied to a pole in a hut. He tries to convince her to shoot him and save her own life. She says no. He kisses her on the forehead (seems to be fashionable this episode). Kayzan appears and they are brought outside. Marguerite is handed a pistol to kill Roxton. She won't do it, but Roxton implores her to shoot him. She finally points the gun at his head ..... when Malone appears just in time, challenging Kayzan to a duel.

----------

Challenger and Summerlee pull off a close escape in the balloon, but let's get back to the interesting storyline. :-)

----------

Here we are again. Isadora mixes a deadly poison for a little blow-pipe dart, after Veronica "convinced" her to do so, with her knife to Isadora's throat.

In the camp, Kayzan has put on a glove with razor-sharp claws (no O.J. jokes here, please). THE BEAST WITH RAZOR-SHARP CLAWS! WILL ISADORA'S PROPHECY COME TRUE? FIND OUT NEXT WEEK! Fortunately, you don't have to wait that long, because I'm here to tell you. :-)
Malone holds his own pretty well in the fight, but would probaly have lost in the end (just my prediction ;-)). However, Kayzan gets struck in the neck by Veronica's poisonous dart, without anyone noticing it. Veronica and Isadora hold the gang in check with their weapons while freeing Marguerite and Roxton. Malone then gets a big thank-you kiss from Marguerite (no forehead this time).

Before leaving the group again, Isadora tells Marguerite that she (Marg) too has the gift of prophecy. Roxton gives Isadora his gun as a parting present, asking her if they will ever find a way out of the Lost World. Isadora: "Yes...and no. You determine your fate" (actually it's us, the viewers, but she can't possibly know everything :-)).

Meanwhile, Malone asks Veronica about a reward for the hero of the day (she has wisely not told him that it was her dart that killed Kayzan). She smiles at him, knocks him to the ground with a blow to the jaw, then kisses him (no forehead), saying that they're even now.

---------------------------------------------

OK, having written so much, I've run out of steam a little bit to make a longer evaluation of this episode. Just a few comments:

- This was TLW close to its campy best. Lots of action, cheesecake and a bit of character development. The two couples have been brought closer together, especially Veronica and Malone whose relationship was handled rather poorly in "Birthright" and "Resurrection".

- Gypsys in the jungle? Yep, why not (please notice my new fatalistic approach). As I said before, I won't get into the old discussion this time.

- Challenger and Summerlee. This is becoming a problem. Their meager storyline was only an excuse to have them on-screen at all. Apparently, the writers couldn't bring themselves to leave the two completely out of an episode for the second time in a row. The focus clearly is on the two couples at the moment.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Reading that spoiler again, it seems that the writing really was on the wall as far as Challenger and (especially) Summerlee were concerned.
