: : Okay, now I know I've worked for the government too long. The : : message is very specific about the Summerlee character. But : : doesn't mention the actor playing him. They wouldn't recast : : the character would they? Yes, I know, that's a bit paranoid : : but frankly, I've heard of worse.: There is a possibility that the producers decide to cast : another actor for season 2. If they put out the kind of : statement they did without contacting Michael Sinelnikoff or : his agent first one could get this idea. However, I don't think : that they will actually recast the character, since people on : this board have made it quite clear in their comments that : they'd like to see Summerlee AS PLAYED BY MICHAEL SINELNIKOFF : to remain on the show. The producers would create a huge : backlash if they'd actually decide to go with another actor. Although I'm sure we outsiders must consider that to be a real possibility, one should also recall that casting a part for an ensemble is not a willy-nilly business. Michael is a known quantity (with an obviously vocal fandom). Since he is travelling and hasn't been contacted yet, it's not like Telescene is in a position to say, "Yes, we've hired him for the second season, everyone relax!" And, besides, a little suspense to keep interest in the show...I mean, we're dealing with the entertainment industry here! :) It says much about Telescene that they have reconsidered the decision. I'm looking forward to cooperating (if I may use that word -- they have not proposed any arrangements with me and I expect none) with a fan-friendly studio. And as much as I think Michael wants to get back with THE LOST WORLD, he has something to say in the matter as well. We have done our part. We need to be patient and hope for the best, however it turns out. Things could have been much worse, you know. The show could have been produced by Viacom. How much effect would we have had on THEM, do you think? Some people would say they're lucky to still have a large active fandom (Viacom owns Paramount, for those who aren't sure of the connection -- I'm referring to STAR TREK fandom, and I've known many people involved in that fandom).
