: I'm not saying that dropping Summerlee is the right or
: wrong thing but it's a bit early to speculate that the show
: will suffer without him. What if losing any of the main
: characters from the heavily laiden main cast allows the other
: characters to develop more and makes the show better.

I like the show with Summerlee in it. I told the producers how I feel. There is nothing wrong or dictatorial in doing so. They provide a service (entertainment) and I told them what kind of service I prefer (entertainment with Summerlee in it).

As for character development, that happens on plenty of shows with ensemble casts: STAR TREK (all four series), BABYLON-5, BLAKE'S SEVEN, etc. They had character development in the first season of LOST WORLD. Sometimes they rotated Challenger and Summerlee out of the picture. Ensemble shows do that on occasion. It's not a problem.

But killing off the character of Summerlee? Why? What purpose does it serve? The show has been goofy what with his Vikings, Druids, Dinosaurs, Aztec Conquistadors, Latin Saurians, and so forth, but it's been enjoyable. There was no need to kill off anyone.
