: The Roxton/Marguerite camp will probably like that episode for the reason you mentioned. For those viewers like me, who don't put such an emphasis on that relationship, the lousy Viking-storyline really killed the episode.

And speaking as one in that camp (I'm the third tent from the left), the guest cast was totally disastrous. With the exception of the old man, each and every one of the others (the boy, the Viking, and Ursula) was uniformly bad. Even a bad plot can be made watchable with decent acting. If not for the Roxton/Marguerite interaction, I'd have scrapped the whole episode.
Here's a thought: since the boy also appeared in "Creatures in the Dark", maybe he's a relative of someone in casting! There must be more actors of that age around!
