: Yes, indeed: Pro7 were kind enough to send a copy of the double episode pilot to my hosts at their request, and we all settled down to watch it with some Apfelwein, Handkase und Musik! (That's apple-wine, fresh curd-cheese with chopped onion and vinegar - a speciality of the region around Frankfurt - why it's called Musik is still a mystery to me).

THE X-FILES: THE HANDKÄS MYSTERY
================================

Well, dear, THIS is one mystery I am able to solve ... (See? We didn't talk about Mulder & Scully for nothing, LOL!).

As you know "Handkäs" is a strong smelling cheese made out of sour milk quark which is served with a marinade of vinegar, oil and onions only accompanied by some coarse rye bread. AND you also have some "Äppelwoi" (apple vine) with it, which usually tastes a bit sour. NOW, take the Äppelwoi, the cheese (which should be really RIPE) and the onions (which should be really FRESH) and imagine what THOSE three ingredients will do to your digestive system... exactly - you will get the equivalent of an atomic overkill. In other words a certain amount of "winds" will naturally kick in after such a meal, which - as we all know - will find their way to freedom sooner or later. And the sound that accompanies these little "freedom fighters" is what is meant by MUSIC in this particular case! Now, the next time you talk to Siggy on the phone you can REALLY show off with your knowledge! :)

BTW, since this is a strong smelling cheese, many people don't call it Handkäs, but Stinkkäs (stinking cheese) or simply "Stinker"... :)

: I'd already seen a copy of Ep.20 in German which Jan had sent me in Montreal, so it wasn't a total surprise. I thought the actor who did my voice in German was marvellous: after the shock of seeing myself so fluent in German wore off, I started noticing how well he'd captured the character.

Sheesh! What an understatement! Michael, you KNOW, you could do the German dubbed version yourself any time :)

[...]

: There are three kids in the family (Felix 17, Julia 13 & Katja 10) and they had their friends in from time to time to watch it again, rather proud of the fact that the old codger on the screen was sitting reading a John Grisham novel on the terrace ... I left the tape with them as a souvenir.

How cool! :) Besides, it looks like the three did a good job in drawing new viewers to the show, LOL!

: When I spoke with an executive at Pro7 to thank her for sending the tape, she told me (beginning of June) that they still hadn't made up their mind about renewal. I didn't ask why, although I was tempted!
: Lovely to see your vivid presence back on the Board - NOW things are back to normal again!
: Greetings to you and Stefan
: Michael S.

How sweet, thanks, dear! Love and hugs from both of us! BTW, we will have a little barbeque tonight with our closest friends who were such a wonderful help throughout the past few weeks in order to thank them for their support and well... just for the fact the weather is once again gorgeous :)) Will reserve a steak and some salat for each and everyone of you!:)

Hugs,

Chiara
