She is that way because she had to survive her parent's, at least her mother's abuse. She will act in her own interests at all costs because that is all she knows how to do. If she became a spy it was because the British insisted or her fortune depended on it. : : Steve Faust : While it does make sense that Marguerite's survival instincts could come from an emotionally abusive childhood, I don't think the back story supports that theory. Marguerite is an orphan, and one orphaned so young that she can't even recall what her parents looked like. In "Cave of Fear", her first reaction to her mother was "Who are you?" She didn't recognize her.
: Mrs. Krux's behavior in the vision was Marguerite's interpretation. I'd reckon the feelings of abandonment and being the cause of your parents leaving are pretty normal in that situation. : Janet Missed the opening to that scene, Janet. Of course you are correct. However, Marguerite does not strike me as your typical spoiled rich girl. Love, sympathy, empathy, what have you, simply have little survival value as far as she is concerned. If a child receives little or no love, for whatever reason, the adult will extend none. She seems to act logically in her own interests, not on a whim.
