: Steve Faust: As a former college student, I am intimately familiar with the history of the 19th and 20 century Europe and : the United States. I was somewhat taken aback by your alcohol : references. I used to be a social drinker but I retired from : alcohol in 1989 because I simply saw no further need for it. : In my travels to various fan fiction sites, I saw one story : in which Summerlee was alive and kicking in 1944. My little : biography was meant to use actual historical events to shed light : upon Summerlee's background so that fan fiction writers could : have ideas to work with. Included was a careful analysis of the portrayal of Summerlee's actions and attitudes as portrayed in : the television series "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World." : If I have offended Micheal S. or any other person on this : board with this act, I formally apologize for this activity. : Regards, G3A3 I much doubt Mr. Faust meant anything more than to humorously express an oppinion of dissent with some of the details of the biography you developed for Summerlee.
Certainly the old war wound explanation and the suggestion that he and Challenger had ever in the past put aside their animosity to work together don't seem to jibe with what we have seen. Any physical difficulties Summerlee has always attributed to encroaching age - although he overcomes them readily when need be, and he is supposed to have come on the journey largely in hopes of making a fool of Challenger. They are old rivals only now learning to respect one another. Also, what has been revealed about his relationship with Anna suggests that theirs was a relatively normal British life, although your ideas do have a flare. Still everything we've seen tends to make the idea that he had such an adventurous life seem unlikely. That is what makes it so exciting for him now to discover that he has the stuff of a great adventurer. Still, there is room and interest on this board for everyone's opinion, and I'm sure no one meant to attack you in any way, especially your personal habits. Silver
