: If any of you message board members live anywhere near Charleston, South Carolina and would enjoy digging up a rather large reptile in 90 degree heat, let me know.I could use the help. It's either a giant leatherback turtle ( the last one excavated weighed in at 7 tons and was roughly the size of a Volkswagon ), or a huge crocodile. I exposed about 6 feet of it and then reburied it in order to hide it ( covered it in sand as the skeleton resides in the bottom of a creek under about 6 inches of water ). I'm a bit concerned as we have had several days of heavy rain. I certainly don't want other fossil hunters to discover it. The news media get really excited about this sort of thing. We can nickname the critter "Summerlee" and get him some exposure, though, 30 - million years ago, if it was a turtle, a more appropriate name would probably have been "Veronica," ( Marguerite isn't the motherly type ).I'll send along a photo of the last turtle just coming out of the ground under separate cover. : Steve Faust Believe me, if I had the time available to take off from work and the money to finance my trip to SC, I'd be there in a heartbeat, not just to gain the experience of a real live "dig", but also to meet the infamous Mr. Steve Faust! :) I truly wish you good luck.
