Theresa, thank you for the compliment. A series of articles would be most appropriate at this time. They take a good week or two to write after you have obtained the appropriate photos and information. What a freelance writer or one of us would require is an interview and photographs. Talking directly to Michael S over the phone about what it was like to play Summerlee during the first season would be the way to go. Questions like: how did he get into the part? What were the problems he and the cast had to overcome ( the making of LW type questions )? What interesting and humorous stories might he reveal? An upbeat article or two, or three. Then it would be a matter of getting fresh pictures from Telescene. Once written and submitted, there is usually a time delay, even if the article is accepted for publication.I hope your hospital stay will be short and your operation successful. Steve Faust : : Karen: : Actually, I think the money men are the ones with the ultimate say-so, sad as it is, although I'll check into the others listed at the site. If, for some bizarre reason they think Summerlee's character contributes to a lack of viewers, and therefore a lack of people to see their sponsor commercials, they'll dump him. Personally, I think the fact that they don't push the show as much as they could that's the problem. I watch Buffy, Angel, Charmed, and Xena (at least this past season regularly) ~ four of the WB's biggest shows ~ the WB11 is the station in NYC/Long Island that runs TLW. They run commericals for all these shows during each other. I see Cleopatra2525 and even Jack of All Trades commercials during these shows. Once in awhile they throw in a Beastmaster (and is that man *fine* ~ sorry, had to include that!) commercial. I very rarely see advertsing for TLW at night, during the WB's prime time. Now, I don't know if the same thing happens in other areas, but obviously, the NYC/Long Island area is a highly populous one, and if we aren't seeing any advertsing that's a huge number of prospective viewers not given a chance to get "hooked" as those of us here have. : : Theresa: : Karen -- I sent a number of letters off today to the publicity and creative departments at Telescene. Although I represent just one fan,I used a number of different quotes from fans about their strong desire to have MS return as Summerlee. : : : I also did some research over the weekend to find magazines that promote the scifi genre. I found six that I would consider fairly heavy hitters (decent circulation) and they were: TV Zone, XPose, Dreamwatch, Starburst, scifi, and Cult Times. All of them had articles and ads for almost every show you can imagine (Beastmaster, Hercules, Angel, Farscape, Earth Final Conflic, Xena, Highlander, etc.) except Lost World. I dashed off another letter to the publicity department at Telescene asking them how they expected to expand viewership hence SPONSORSHIP hence REVENUES if Lost World wasn't represented in any of them. In all I probably sent three or four letters -- it will be interesting to see if the publicity department responds. I also ccd the creative vp on each and every one since she responded to an email from me and promised to forward to her publicity department (which, incidently, she assured me would be in touch...) : : : Please let me know if there is anything else I can do although as of Tuesday I will be out of circulation (by that I mean my mind) for at least a week because of surgery. Beyond that, I can be quite proactive via the net. : : : Theresa:D : : Faust: Sounds to me like we need to prepare a couple of articles for these magazines.Would like to have the names of any editors you ran across. : : Steve: I am sorry. I spent quite a few hours going through around 15 magazines of the scifi-cult genre page by page looking for info on Lost World. If I had more time, I would go back and research the editors for you. As it is, I will be out of circulation for a few days due to surgery. : I have included the web addresses of the magazines -- you will find the sites quite interesting. They each have excellent detail on the contents of their magazines. : I hope you can get some articles published in one or more of them.
