I'm not so sure she was intended to be completely detached from all other people to begin with. The Peacekeepers seem to have genuine friendship and affection among themselves. Aeryn is simply learning to accept "lower castes" as equals, something she was never trained to do. Peacekeeper arrogance is one of the tools they would use to keep themselves from developing too much sympathy for other races (sympathy from an oppressor is counter-productive to the oppression).

: John is becoming tougher in a universe totally outside his : imagenation and is coping. but others are starting not to : underestimate as much as they use too. And they know nothing's : worse than a human scorned.

I like this growth. But I wonder if people just starting to watch the show a year from now would be put off by the first seasno's early episodes, where they are sometimes literally attacking one another?
