Posted by Vince on March 26, 2000 at 16:33:52 Sorry, this could be one of my long-winded posts. First of all, I'm a late comer to this show. I've only been able to catch 8 of the first seasons 22 episodes, half of which were the final four. I've been making the same mistake for the past two "2nd season" episodes. Because I enjoy this show as much as I do, I find myself with extremely high expectations before each episode begins. As the show starts, I feel a little disappointed. I start to focus on what I believe is wrong instead of enjoying what is right. Last Friday's "Vitas Mortis" was no exception. I tend to be more of a "Wrath of Khan" - phasers on full - damn the torpedoes - full speed ahead - sci-fi action type. However, that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate a good show that lacks pulse rifles and explosions. As Friday's show began, I started to feel a little let down. But as the show continued, I found myself enjoying every scene with D'Argo. This is one character that has taken awhile for me to warm up to, but he may be my favorite now. When I watched the "Premier" episode, I thought D'Argo would just be a Worf rip-off. I could not have been more wrong. Anthony Simcoe is excellent as this "poetic warrior" who has great strength and strong emotions. I think"Vitas Mortis" has been more than just a filler episode. By the end, I had changed my initial negative opinion to positive. This was then sealed during the exchange between D'Argo and John when D'Argo responds "Don't you think I know what has to be done!!" I could go on and on about other aspects of this last show. Some of it good (i.e. Aeryn's leather outfit), some of it not (i.e. the Orikan --spelling?-- a face only a Luxan could love) , but I think this post is long enough as it is. All in all, I was not disappointed.
