Adding another voice to the choir, I have made observations similar ot Elyse in the way Creation runs conventions.

Years and years ago, they were okay, never as good as nearly any fan-run Con, but okay. As Creation became more seasoned, they found ways of increasing revenues while providing a product for which many people were willing to pay a premium. High priced Gold and Platinum seating, charging for autographs, signing guests to exclusive contracts to only do their conventions, etc. This is their choice, as a business running conventions they set the rules and prices. As fans, we must choose whether to attend and pay or to skip it.

The issues I have is what seems to be a very deliberate attempt to reduce competition from fan run conventions. This includes scheduling their 'big' Cons the same weekend of a similar fan run convention. Some may say that this is just good business, however, in fandom the concept of cooperation and fair play rules. Predatory business tactics leaves many of us cold. For these reasons I have not attended a Creation convention in nearly fifteen years. My understanding their practices have not changed, so the likelihood of me attending a Creation Con is about the same of me winning the grand price in the lottery. And I don't buy lottery tickets either.

Your mileage may differ, void where prohibited by law.
