It sounds like you've got a point though.: Out of curiosity, is this supposed to be a dangerous mission, or practically suicidal? If the later, which I suspect what with casting lots and all, it would make sense to only send one. If John were the only one to go, I imagine it would create and even better clifhanger, seeings as he's the star.
