I tend to agree that this season is so far lackluster. Got me all fired up with this Scorpius/Talyn thing, then rammed us all into reverse. However, character motivation is crucial to good storytelling, and the writers may be thinking "Hum, better make *sure* they (the charcters) all feel *major* friendship toward John, since they will eventually **ALL** have to band together simply to save Crichton from Scorpius. That's a lot to ask, especially from a band of ex-prisoners who were until recently more concerned with their own skins than anything. Not to mention different species. I also get the impression that John is bring a *softening* effect to the other characters. As D'Argo proved this last show, loyalty is crucial. And surprising. Before the big battle (that you all know is sure to come {most likely at the end of this season}), there will have to be a proven bond that makes the life-or-death struggle to keep Crichton from Scorpius believeable. That, I believe, is what the writers are doing now. If I interpret correctly, the trailers for next week have Chianna involved with something that Crichton (and I assume, the others) have to help her with. Look for similar shows with Zhann and Rygel as primaries. Also gives other characters 'air time'. We all know why Aeryn will help him (he saved her life -- and other considerations, ahem), so I look for these personal epsiodes intertwined with battle-intensive Scorpius ones.Or, I could be wrong and they are dropping the ball. Hope not. As for the black leather Crichton thing. All I can say is "grrrrr." I assume it is left-over peacekeeper garb that was with the red/black officer outfit they already stated was there in another episode. The man can't wear those cheesy NASA overalls forever. Not for ratings sake, anyway. IMHO lovetoadee
