I take your point about needing to make the show user-friendly. About things like language and customs I have no problem (even caught myself using "frell" in a sentence a few days ago, don't think I didn't feel like a complete geek.) What I wish is that instead of taking artistic license with absolute facts like biology and physics, they'd use the show as an opportunity to slip in a little small-bites, easy to handle education in. I've talked to people (adults, not school kids who haven't had that class yet) who don't know there's more than one star system, or that the universe is larger than a galaxy.

About the wormhole technology, right after I posted it occured to me: the wormhole aliens! I'd completely forgotten about them. I think you're right in that John may hold back whatever he does know, or will learn, because he doesn't want Scorpius finding his way Earthward.

I got a big chuckle out of the girlfriend remark too. They certainly were nose to nose there for a minute, weren't they? That should start up some interesting slash fiction.

I didn't mention it the first time, but I have the horrible feeling that Zhaan is the one going to get the boot. If only because she's my favorite character and that always seems to happen to my favorites. But the writers never got a real handle on her personality, or what her importance was to the rest of the crew, other than a sort-of doctor. Otherwise she's pretty much been all over the place and lately she's been ignored or treated like a weakling.
