Maybe I was anticipating part II of “Princess” too keenly but, I was disappointed.John’s meltdown and subsequent despair seems genuine. I can believe he has finally reached the breaking point and is emotionally paralyzed. I never got the feeling from previous eps that John was the only crew member who ever had a decent plan so, why isn’t someone else doing something constructive? Chiana & Rygel seem to be themselves but, what’s happened to D’argo? He’s so placid that I expect him to appear with flowers in his hair singing the Luxan rendition of “Tiptoe Through the Tulips”. Is sex with Chiana cleansing his brain? And Aeryn. She seems to be alternating between pensiveness and a high state of piss-off. One would think she would have taken charge of the situation by now since it’s obvious John has had a meltdown. I understand she is struggling with her feelings for John but, would “the Aeryn we knew” be so completely unhinged? I sat agog when John jumped out of the transport ship and somehow floated to nearby vessel sans gear. Even a die-hard sci-fi fan such as myself couldn’t suspend disbelief over that trick (a thousand humble apologies, Fleur). I don’t expect wildly heroic acts or neatly wrapped-up solutions. I like the fact that the Farscape characters are multifaceted & exhibit more normal reactions than the squeaky clean Star Trek characters (no offense, I’m a Trek fan, as well). However, in part II the characters just didn’t ring true to me. I’ll be watching the tape again this weekend, maybe a 2nd viewing will bring something new to light. ;) D
