Also if you mention Melkor you gotta mention Manwe, Orome, Tulkas, Eonwe etc. : Here's a few more matches : Gandalf (without body) vs. Sauron : Tom Bombadil vs. Anybody ( I don't know who) : Treebeard vs. Shelob : Jon No Valar! In fact no one who whimped out and stayed over in the Undying Lands. Gandalf should have his body cause he was not sent over with all his juice. In which case Sauron would tan his hide. Tom Bombadil vs Sauron would be another matter. I think the little old Dark Lord may just get HIS hide roasted, if only just! Treebeard would be fun and I think he would muller Shelob a good one!
