: : And beside, too many *Tolkien fans* jump up and down and cry out "It'll never be like the book", "It will be crap" or some version of that, without actually giving PJ a chance. : : Tolkien had no objection to the LOTR being made for the big screen so long as Disney kept their PC (my opinion) and musical noses out of it. When some Zimmerman chap attempted to write a screen play, Tolkien did tear him to pieces, but that's because Zimmerman screwed up real bad, but in many of his letter Tolkien has no problem with the concept of LOTR going to the cinema and even was happy with minor alterations. : : I have to say that I would want to see a proper version on the screen with omissions rather that alterations and that is (I believe) what PJ is aiming for. : : Personally i think we should all stop knocking the chap and see what he's got. Besides, what was that about being innocent until being proven guilty? : : Give the guy a chance. : : Cheers : : : : Padster : Nothing I can do will stop a film being made - but the producers will not be getting my money. I sincerely doubt if any film production would be bearable to me. That's my gut feeling, I'm not saying I'm holier than thou, I just don't like the idea. No matter what, the movie will not measure up to the version of JRRT's world we all have in our heads, if for no other reason because our version is OURS- tailored to our specific needs. However, if you are able to abstract from your own fantasy, the film may be okay in its own right- further, who are we to judge other peoples' version of our, both common and individual, fantasy, who are we to claim that our's is better than the next man's? :) Neithan
