: *sighs* : Greed, such a terrible thing. : I am a purist; always have been, always will be. Destroying the sanctity of an author's work is one of the vilest type of crime you can commit against the writing community. Yet it is evident, from what we hear of the movies, and what we see with the upcoming online game Middle Earth, is that there is a total disregard of staying true to an already set, and even a winning, standard. : If purity can be compromised and be profitable, they will do so with little or no qualms. I cannot speak against Peter Jackson, because I am not entirely privy to that situation, but the director of Middle Earth Online is committing blasphemies of the most putrid sort against Tolkien's work. He has already stated he will disregard certain aspects of the Professor's works if it will enhance gameplay. This is intolerable. : My point is this, the "Arwen" thing has got people up and arms all over the world. Yet why are we so surprised? Why didn't we expect this? Can the LOTR movies truly live up to our standards? : No. : Do you know why? : I'll tell you why. : Because Peter Jackson is not primarily doing these movies as a tribute to J.R.R. Tolkien. He is doing it to make money, if not to make a name for himself. Thus, it will fall short of its potential. It is an unstoppable force that nothing can prevent. Only the books will forever remain undefiled. : That is my humble yet passionate opinion. I am yours to comment and flame upon. : *bows* : Fare thee well, and well met to all of you. : Elenduil of Luvenor
