: Could someone please straighten this out? : Regards : Mjolnir : PS. And was the Noldor of the Houses (families) of Finarfin and : Fingolfin mostly fair-haired? DS. Most of the descendants of Finwe appear to have had dark hair of some sort. Finarfin's children may all have been golden-haired, but their descendants resumed the dark-haired characteristics of he Noldor. The only one of Fingolfin's full elven descendants to have fair hair was Idril. Earendil, I believe, was golden-haired, but I don't have time to check right now. The Green-elves were Nandor in origin and thus were accounted of the Eldar. The Silvan Elves were a mixture of Nandor and Avari, and Tolkien seems to have excluded them from the Eldar. This exclusion may imply they were mostly of Avarin descent, but we really have no way of knowing. The Avari who were the ancestors of Silvan Elves called themselves Penni. There is no name for the Nandorin Elves who merged with them (other than Nandor). Both groups were ultimately of Telerin origin. The term "moriquendi" really has nothing to do with ethnic groups. It simply refers to all the Elves, Eldar and Avari, who never saw the light of the Two Trees.
