: I am Australian. I am awake when the rest of you are asleep. : As for "Elvish runes," I don't really think we need to get into a debate about the meaning of the word "Runes". But that's what it comes down to. I don't mind having a go. It seems that runes were developed in central Europe where Celt and Teuton were mixing - using Etruscan or other North Italian alphabets as an inspiration. The Etruscans got their alphabet from the Cumaean Greeks, and the Greeks from the Phoenicians who apparently invented it. The central Europeans and their successors didn't use the alphabet for mundane daily use (their level of cultural development didn't really have a need for it) they used writing for inscriptions and divination - contacting the gods and wizardry. Not having a tradition of working stone, most of their inscriptions were made on wood. Because of its grain, wood is very difficult to cut small curves into, as a result the trans-alpine folk transformed the letters by eliminating any curves - the resulting alphabet was then Runic. So basically, if a script is largely curving it isn't Runic.
