: uno(1): how come I can't find Tom Bombadil's history in any book? maybe I'm being dumb, but he isn't in the Silmarillion, and I can't find him anywhere else...and of what race is he anyway?

: dva(2): of little importance, but...what height does everyone imagine Treebeard and the Ents to be? do you imagine them more like trees, or men? : I have seen some really bad pictures(in my imagination) of the Ents, some draw them to look just like men, only with trunks and green hair.

First; If you consider a question important enough to ask it, then it has significance for you and, thus, who are we to say they are of little significance? Second; Please do not start the "Who/what is Bombadil?"- discussion again, we are never going to agree. I think you can find most in tLotR, but there is also another novel concerned mainly with him, I just do not remember the name but am certain Michael has stated it in his answer. Third; Ents, well they are big enough to carry hobbits easily in their hands, they can be mistaken for trees, they slaughter Orks in throves, you can ride amongst and under them (I know that that was Huorns but Fangorn himself stated that Ents could turn "treelike"- to Huorns), they take long steps ("like the beating of the wings of a heron" or something), Trolls- who are large- are breed in mockery of them, they tear rock with ease, Etc. I have always envisioned them as large possibly 12- 24 feet? ICE claims that Fangorn was 16 feet tall, and I consider that as good an estimate as any. ;-) Neithan Turambar
