I appreciate the concern, but unless I were to trademark the name, there is no way I could corner the market on "White Council" message boards. In fact, there was once another White Council that existed for a few months. THIS White Council is listed in many indexes/directories and promoted on other Web sites. I also post occasional announcements to the news groups about it. There may be some confusion in the future, but I don't think there will be a big problem. Coincidentally, I performed some searches on "White Council" last night on Alta Vista. As you may recall, I recently moved over 6,000 archived messages to secondary domains and I'm concerned about what the search engines will do with all the old archived message listings. They appear to have dropped the old listings but are now showing the archive indexes. I hope in a few weeks or months to see the new archive messages appear in the search engines. In the meantime, I found many hits on "White Council". Most of those in the first return results are for Xenite.Org's message board. The rest are a variety of Web sites, some related to Tolkien gaming, some wholly unrelated to Tolkien altogether. For now, at least, it looks like people will have to find the Onering.Com's message board indirectly, and that should help minimize confusion. All the movie news/rumor sites seem to be getting good traffic, so I don't believe they will be squeezed out by low visibility on the "White Council" name front.
