Tolkien probably wouldn't have said so, but it strikes me that just maybe it might have been a tad on the erotic side, say like Salome dancing before Herod. : Whatever she did, it sure cast a spell! I actually thought much the same. Of course, it would have been against Tolkien's Catholic principles to put in even a clue to support that, but, how else could Luthien, daughter of a Maia and an Elf-king cast a spell over Morgoth, who was more powerful than even Manwe?
