: : I haven't gamed in years, but used to play mostl Rolemaster. Have played some AD&D. I didn't really like that until I joined gaming group with an excellent, excellent GM, but he eventually decided to give up reffing and joined the SCA. The Rolemaster group I played will still games and they occasionally played other games, so I was introduced to Traveller and Chivalry and Sorcery. Also a modified version of Aftermath we called AfterPat (Pat was the game ref and he heavily modified it, blending it with AD&D). : : I loved the AfterPat game. I started out with a guy in Canada who was taken to another world based on Philip Jose Farmer's Tier world. There my guy (named Simon Tregarth for the character in Andre Norton's Witch World novels) took the place of a powerful wizard (whose name I cannot recollect). He had a TON of spells and spent five years making all sorts of neat things (like flying glassteel shields -- oh, it was NEAT). : : Anyway, Pat eventually ended that game and began a Rolemaster game sometime in 1983 or 1984 which sort of continues even to this day, at least in the since that he brings in characters and worlds from past games to the current game he's running. : : I moved across country several years ago and can only occasionally return to Atlanta to visit those guys. I miss the friendship more than the gaming, but I miss the games sometimes. : I haven't played D&D since the early 80s. But like you I miss the friends, all of whom are scattered about the U.S. Most of us were in the Navy. My DM was a guy by the name of Don LaChance, who was from San Francisco. At one time he was a DM for Gary Gygax and he too was a superb guide into the fantasy world of gaming. After he left the Navy I could never find a DM as good and eventually fell out of the gaming world. : I mentioned Don's name in the hope that he may see my post. I'd love to hear how he's doing today. Seems as if I am a mere novice compared to you two- I taught myself the MERP rules (with my very rudimentary English from Danish public school ninth grade) back in 1986, probably as one of the first in DK to game- at least I have heard only of a few AD&D people who were out before me. I do have some british friends living over here who has gamed in some sort or the other since 1978-79. One of them actually got in contact with some of his old gaming friends from university by a newsletter turned internet6 newslist-I can try to pry the name out of him Goodgulf- you may find your old buddy there. I have now moved to my own version of 1st edition Rolemaster and the two systems that these two Brits have developed for themselves, but I do play in Middle-Earth, and it is with profound sorrow that I heard about the Bloodbath (thank you Mike- dripping sarcasm). Anyway, now I will go work on my own module that has lasted for two years and will probably last for two more before the finishing touches. Neithan Turambar
